I have two new stories out now:
“Water People” in Lovers of Darkness: Stories Inspired by H.P. Lovecraft’s Commonplace Book follows Rose and the Bear Man in the New Winter apocalypse as they momentarily escape downriver on an abandoned houseboat, rescuing a young man along the way from being eaten by hungry Smilodon on shore. This story has everything: an angry Glaistig, a HAM radio librarian inadvertently calling forth the faeries by playing Kate Bush over the airwaves, and hungry women in the water with needle-sharp teeth and long streaming green hair. It’s a whole thing. I’m a fan of Hippocampus Press and S.T. Joshi’s Penumbra: A Journal of Weird Fiction and Critcism and I’m delighted to be a part of it.

“Happy Hour” in Remains Issue 6 is told by a young woman whose mother has gone missing after visiting her narcissistic grandmother in assisted living. It’s the scariest thing I’ve ever written. The soundtrack has Depeche Mode on it. Kate Bush as well, now that I think about it. Read it and find out how, but it’s terrifying and don’t say I didn’t warn you. Remains is consistently amazing and to be a part of anything editor Andy Cox and Richard Wagner (of Black Static fame) do is a stone cold honor. I hope you will consider a subscription is you like literary horror and weird fiction. Remains is excellent.
